Rules: name it in One Piece style (a doubled word, like Gomu Gomu), give it one strength, one weakness that isn't just "can't swim", and one signature technique. Best entry gets pinned. I'll start: Kami Kami no Mi, the P…
The doors are open! Introduce yourself with three anime: the first one you loved, the one you rewatch, and the one you push on everyone. I'll go first: Cowboy Bebop (first love), Mushishi (rewatch), Mob Psycho 100 (the o…

Halloween is Saturday, so it is officially costume crunch time! What anime character are you going as this year, and are you building it, buying it, or panic-assembling it the night before? Bonus points for past costumes…
Card-shop crew, let''s talk Costco runs! Costco keeps getting exclusive Pokémon bundles, and when they drop some warehouses have lines before the doors even open. Have you waited in a Costco line for cards, and was it wo…
Netflix's live-action One Piece has two seasons out now, and Into the Grand Line landed March 10 with the Straw Hats finally entering the Grand Line. The big question: did it actually work as a mainstream doorway, or is…
Let's build the ultimate list: the craziest, most unforgettable animal scenes in anime history. Post the title, describe the scene so we can picture it, and tell us how it made you feel. I'll start with My Neighbor Totor…
Welcome to Retro Hangar, everyone. This is the channel for the classics: mecha, cyberpunk, tokusatsu, and anything you first saw on a tape that had been copied one too many times. Perfect timing for a first thread, too.…
New challenge, everyone! Name a song that was ALREADY a hit in the USA before an anime used it, not one that blew up because of the anime. Give the anime, the song, the artist and the years. I'll start: JoJo's Bizarre Ad…
Netflix dropped all ten episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 at once on October 20, and I watched every single one before sunrise. No regrets. Some regrets. TRIGGER is back in Night City with a brand-new cast: D, a nomad…
Now that JJK and Black Clover have finished their runs, how do you feel about how they stuck the landing?
Four episodes into The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 and Maomao is out-polling half the season. It's been in the top 4 of Anime Corner's weekly fan poll every week so far (#2, then #4, then #3), and before the season even…
Five episodes into the 2nd and 3rd STAGE of Steel Ball Run on Netflix, and Friday at 1 a.m. Pacific has become a holiday in my house. Johnny, Gyro, a horse race across 1890s America, a $50 million prize, and David Produc…

Oda confirmed Luffy's fruit is the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika in chapter 1044. But go back and look at how his body was always drawn: cartoon physics, impossible stretches, that grin. The fruit was "Gomu Gomu" in name…
Halloween is next Saturday. My cozy-but-creepy picks: Mononoke (2007), with that unreal paper-texture art Mushishi, quiet and folkloric Perfect Blue (1997, Satoshi Kon) Uzumaki, the 2024 Adult Swim adaptation of Junji It…
Before you pay to grade, check the four things graders score: centering, corners, edges, surface. PSA grades on a 1 to 10 scale. For the 1999 Base Set Charizard (#4/102), a 1st Edition stamp or a Shadowless print is wort…
Takehiko Inoue adapted Eiji Yoshikawa's novel Musashi, and in the later volumes the art moves toward brush and ink. The fight against the seventy Yoshioka swordsmen is some of the most sustained action ever put on paper.…
Pick one original character and redraw them three times: Studio Ghibli: soft shapes, lived-in clothes, watercolor skies Studio Trigger: angular poses, huge perspective, neon color ufotable: sharp detail with glowing effe…
Science SARU's adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu's manga premiered in October 2024. Ghosts, aliens, a granny spirit, and a romance that sneaks up on you. The opening, "Otonoke" by Creepy Nuts, lived in my head for a month.
My setup: side-loading 9-pocket binders for sets, penny sleeve plus toploader for anything valuable, and graded slabs only for the cards I'd grab in a fire. Avoid ring binders: the rings can dent the cards closest to the…
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is written by Kanehito Yamada, drawn by Tsukasa Abe, and serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday. The adventure is over before chapter 1 starts, and the story is about grief and time. Madhouse's…
